Trippy Music - Early 70's Style

The end of another busy day, and I'm having fun surfing around with headphones on, listening to music to unwind. I'm not in a writing or a reading mood, choosing to satisfy my aural senses instead. Following are a couple of nice mellow and trippy selections from the old vinyl album collection, guaranteed to put you in a better frame of mind.

The World is a Ghetto - War. The long version with a really nice sax solo.

Daydream - Robin Trower.

Enjoy!

Music was so much better back then. I'm sorry I missed it when it was fresh!

Tide, thanks for stopping by and taking it easy for a while. Always good to have your company. I enjoy sharing my taste in music - even if it is all over the map.

Matt, I'd be tempted to agree with you, but I'm scared of sounding like some old curmudgeon if I did. There's really good stuff out there today, but you do have to keep your ears open, because there are so many alternative venues.

The mainstream isn't nearly as good anymore, only because the music business has become just that, a business, with marketing wonks seeking out and promoting unseasoned musicians that haven't had time to hone their craft, but seem to have the right look and hook for their target market. Blech! I feel dirty just saying that. Dammit, I now sound like a curmudgeon again.

Music is and always will remain an aural artform.

I'm only 31, and I bet I sound older than you most of the time. :P

My daughter is 5, and every time I see her watching TV it's some Disney pop star, and I just cringe when I think about that being her musical exposure.

...Course, the music of the 60 might not be a much better influence, but at least it's better music! :D

I'm about to start a post about my 15 favorite albums of all time, there's definitely going to be some stuff from the 60s on there! I bet you'll enjoy it!

Matt, before you start thinking we were all so cool back then, I'd like to point out that I too watched the Mickey Mouse Club, and sang along to this tune:

Mickey Mouse Club Original

That ought to dispel any notion of how "cool" we were. I'm sure my parents cringed too just like you're doing now, although when we rebelled against that kind of music is when they really started cringing.

I'll look for your Blog entry. I love listening to other people's favorite musical tastes.
